Review of:  GoPro Karma Drone

Type:  Foldable, Camera, Video

Odd looking, being fold-able is nice for a drone this size.

Many helpful features that make a big difference.

Amazing build quality with high quality components.

Higher but the video quality is worth what you pay.

  • Video quality is stunning, many options
  • Solid build quality for the price
  • The touchscreen controller is amazing

  • Price is a bit high
  • Backpack is a bit too large
  • Not compatible with older GoPro cameras

Summary:  The GoPro Karma is a premium drone that is really easy to fly and somewhat portable.  There are many features that make this a perfict drone for people on the go that want the best quality video.  The carry case is really large but does hold all of the needed accessories too.  The video capabilites are well worth the price!  Our favorite video drone out right now.

Let me start off by just saying how fantastic the Karma GoPro Drone is. A few years ago GoPro Karma  had a recall, people were having a lot of issue with power cutting off mid-flight and having controller connecting issues, but GoPro took care of their customers and also took care of the problem. So, this year I decided to buy the GoPro Karma Drone since I own other GoPro products. Karma captures fantastic footage in the air, handheld or body mounted.

Let me just tell you what this awesome drone comes with:

  • HERO 6 Black
  • Karma Drone
  • Karma Controller with Touch screen display
  • Karma Stabilizer
  • Karma Grip
  • Karma Charger
  • Karma Battery
  • 6 Propellers
  • Karma Mounting Ring
  • USB-C Cable
  • Karma Case with back straps for easier carrying

My favorite part is the controller that features a touch screen display. The touch screen makes it easy and fun to fly (reminds me of a PS-vita). It also comes with a camera stabilizer that can be removed from the drone and attached to the included Karma Grip. That is a huge plus because I don’t need to worry about buying a stabilizer. I can capture great quality footage without an extra purchase.

Not going to lie, I really enjoy flying this drone. I got lucky and have taken selfie pictures, flew it up high before it got really cold and snowed. I took the drone out to the lake and flew it over the water and got a nice view and some great video. My family loves it and can’t wait to take it out again and get some serious footage.

Now that being said, I only have few issues in my opinion with this drone.  First, I think the backpack is too big. I understand why it has the hard-shell casing to protect it. Secondly and more disappointing is the stabilizer. You can’t do selfie video and you can’t mount it to a tripod. I understand that it is an action camera, but I would have liked to be able to set it up on a tripod. Thirdly, the drone is not compatible with all GoPro cameras.  I also have GoPro (2018) and it will not work with that camera. Hopefully in the future they make an update to allow all GoPros to be compatible with their drones.

Aside from those few problems I’ve listed it is a great drone and I love it. It’s worth every penny, I highly recommend the GoPro Karma drone.
